I was born in Oudtshoorn in the Karoo, and obtained my HDE in Pre-Primary at Barkly House Teachers College. I worked as a preschool teacher in Kuilsriver and in Goodwood, where I started a Grade R class attached to a Primary school. In 1987 I worked as a trainer at the Foundation for Community Work (FCW), and then joined the team at ELRU in 1995, where I worked until the end of 2009. I am a PDT trainer based in Cape Town, but I love working in rural areas and am especially interested in training of trainers. Being part of the ART Anti-racism training for trainers offered by ELRU in the late 1990s was one of my most significant life experiences and I now try to incorporate anti-bias work in everything I do.
